̌Before starting the installation of your eSIM, please check the following items:

  • Is your device is eSIM compatible and network unlocked? [Links to articles on unlocked devices and eSIM compatible devices]
  • Do you have a stable WiFi connection? You need a stable data connection to download the eSIM successfully. This is possible over a mobile data connection, but WiFi is recommended.

To prepare to install and activate your GigSky eSIM, make sure that you have printed out the QR code for your eSIM, or that you have it displayed on the screen of a second device.

Follow the instructions corresponding to your device OS to install the eSIM. After installation, we recommend that you change its label to “GigSky eSIM” to make it easy to identify in your device's settings.

Instructions for iOS

The following instructions are based on an iPhone set to the United States region.

  • On your device, go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM.
  • Tap Use QR Code.
  • Move your iPhone camera to scan the QR code so that it appears in the frame on your device.
  • Follow the steps shown on the screen.

The eSIM will be downloaded and installed on your device. If you are prompted to deactivate an eSIM, select an eSIM to be turned off so that your new eSIM can be activated. Depending on your device, you can have only one or two eSIMs on at any time.

  • Change the label of your new eSIM to make it easy to identify.
    • Go to Settings > Cellular and tap your new eSIM.
    • Tap Cellular Plan Label at the top of the screen.
    • Tap the Custom Label field and type in a label for your new eSIM. We suggest using "GigSky".

  • IMPORTANT: Now turn off mobile data for any apps you don't need it for:
    • Go to Settings > Cellular.
    • Scroll down until you see a list of apps with switch toggles next to them.
